Chelsea are all set to trigger the €60 million release clause to sign 25-year-old Tottenham Hotspur target Dani Olmo.
According to 24 Sata via SportWitness, Chelsea are keen on bolstering their attack ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Dani Olmo. The 25-year-old attacking midfielder has been a consistent performer for RB Leipzig and his performances have put him on the radar of top English clubs.
Olmo was a part of the famous Barcelona youth academy La Masia before joining Dinamo Zagreb in 2015. He was a part of the Croatian outfit for five years before making a move to Germany.
He has gone from strength to strength since joining Leipzig. While he has struggled with injuries this term, the Spanish international still has 11 goal contributions in his 19 outings. His performances have resulted in a lot of interest and clubs from across Europe are looking to sign him in the upcoming transfer window.
Chelsea to trigger Olmo’s release clause
Chelsea are one of the clubs keen on his signatures. The Blues might have spent a fortune on new signings but those moves haven’t worked out for them. They are looking to make a few more signings to ensure they can bounce.
The London club wants to sign someone who can contribute in the final third. Olmo is an exceptional player who can score goals and create chances for those around him.
While his contract with the German club runs until the summer of 2027, there is a €60 million release clause in his contract that could result in his departure. According to the report, the Blues are ready to trigger his clause. They feel he could be a great addition to their ranks and are ready to pay the premium.
Tottenham Hotspur join the race for Olmo
Meanwhile, Tottenham Hotspur are also in the mix and €60 million is considered to be a bargain fee for the top English club. The North London club have been monitoring him for a while now.
Spurs need someone who can support James Maddison and add depth to their attack. With Omlo capable enough to feature on the flanks, his arrival will give Ange Postecoglou multiple options to work with.
While Chelsea and Tottenham both look keen on his signatures, the Spanish international has previously talked about his preference for returning to Spain. As a result, the English clubs will have a lot of work to do.
