Chelsea have started making moves to acquire the services of 25-year-old RB Leipzig attacking midfielder Dani Olmo.

According to a report by Football Transfers, Chelsea are keen on reinforcing their attack ahead of next season and they have their eyes set on Dani Olmo. The 25-year-old RB Leipzig attacking midfielder is a priority target for the Blues and they have initiated discussions to land him at Stamford Bridge.

Olmo was a part of Barcelona’s famous youth academy La Masia before making a move to Dinamo Zagreb in the summer of 2014. In just over six months he made it to the first team of the Croatian club. After a five-year-long spell, he joined Leipzig in the winter of 2020.

Since joining the German club, he has gone from strength to strength. And, his impressive performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe. In the ongoing season, the Spanish international has 11 goal contributions in his 19 outings.

Dani Olmo is Chelsea’s priority target

Injuries might have troubled him in the current campaign but his abilities and his consistent performances over the past few seasons make him a highly sought-after player. Chelsea are one of the clubs that have been monitoring him for a long while and they seemed determined to land him at the club in the upcoming summer window.

The London club are looking to sanction the departure of Conor Gallagher because of financial concerns. And, out-of-favour Raheem Sterling is also expected to leave. As a result, they need attacking reinforcement and Olmo is their priority.

His abilities make him an ideal fit for their style of play and his versatility is a bonus. The Blues have already taken steps to land him at the club and they are in contact with RB Leipzig to know about the finances required to pull off the deal.

Mauricio Pochettino has identified the 25-year-old as a key target with a high chance of Gallagher’s departure. While Olmo’s contract there runs until the summer of 2027, the Blues can surely prise him away but they first need to balance their books.
