Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are unlikely to get their hands on the 23-year-old Real Madrid attacking sensation Rodrygo.

According to Dean Jones via GiveMeSport, Arsenal are looking to sign a new winger in the upcoming summer transfer window and they have been linked with Real Madrid star Rodrygo. But, they might not have the financial strength to land him at the club.

Rodrygo’s rise & his time at Real Madrid

Rodrygo made a name for himself quite early in his career. He was already on the radar of top clubs from across Europe while he was playing for the Santos under-20 team. The Brazilian got promoted to the first team in 2017 and after two successful seasons with their first team, Real Madrid managed to sign the young sensation.

He has gone from strength to strength since joining Los Blancos. The 23-year-old has got more game time with every passing season and he has managed to deliver time and again. Rodrygo has already helped Real Madrid win the Champions League once and he is an integral part of their team.

The Brazil international has 21 goal contributions in the ongoing season and his contract with the Spanish giants runs until the summer of 2028. Despite that, the Gunners have been linked with the 23-year-old winger who is versatile and can feature anywhere in attack.

Arsenal’s search for a new winger

Mikel Arteta wants more quality on the flanks. They do have Gabriel Martinelli and Bukayo Saka who have been doing wonders for them. But, Leandro Trossard is their only backup option. Arteta wants someone who can not only provide cover but can also add goals.

Rodrygo could be an ideal fit for them but signing him might not be feasible for Arsenal according to Dean Jones. The transfer expert believes they might not have the financial means to pull off the deal. A transfer would require a fee of over £85 million and they will have to offer him wages of over £200,000-a-week.

On top of that, the Gunners will have to convince him to leave his dream club. As a result, Jones has ruled out an Arsenal move for Rodrygo. While they do need a wide attacker, they might have to look elsewhere as the player might not prefer leaving the Spanish giants.
