Teun Koopmeiners might be warming up to a transfer to Liverpool in the summer, while there are other Premier League sides in the hunt.
A report by Dean Jones on Give Me Sport reckons Teun Koopmeiners would be an absolute fit for Liverpool, and the player seems to be warming up to the idea of joining the Merseysiders. The Atalanta midfielder has gained plenty of traction of late, with interest also coming from Manchester United and Tottenham.
Teun Koopmeiners open to joining Liverpool?
Dean Jones certainly thinks that Teun Koopmeiners can fit in well at Liverpool should he make a move to Merseyside from Atalanta. The midfielder, who has 12 goals this season for the Serie A outfit, has been attracting interest from a lot of Premier League sides.
Liverpool recently enquired about the midfielder’s availability, with Atalanta likely to part ways should a big offer come their way. The Serie A side are aware of the growing interest in the Dutchman after a stellar season in Bergamo, meaning they will be in a solid position to command a hefty fee.
Juventus are also keen, but the midfielder might be warming up to the idea of joining the Premier League. Dean Jones has taken a step ahead and insisted Koopmeiners might already be thinking about Liverpool and the prospect of playing at Anfield next season should everything go smoothly.
Jones said, “Teun Koopmeiners would be an unbelievable addition to the Premier League. There is long-standing interest in him from Newcastle. While that evaporated, the club now really gaining traction with a move for him are Liverpool. I do think there is a slot there at Liverpool that they might look towards filling and if they got Koopmeiners, their potential would be pretty devastating.”
“The fact he is adding fuel to the fire now by talking about life in England definitely suggests he is becoming open to the move, and that might be in mind with the fact Atalanta have not quite kicked on at the top end of the table this season.”
Manchester United, Tottenham also keen on Koopmeiners
Recent reports have linked Koopmeiners with a variety of clubs, including Tottenham, who were initially considered front-runners alongside Liverpool. Spurs might think of adding another attacking midfielder to their ranks, and the Atalanta star certainly fits the bill.
Meanwhile, Manchester United believe they have an advantage in the chase, having done good business with Atalanta earlier for Amad Diallo and Rasmus Hojlund. Overall, the race for Koopmeiners might intensify as we get closer to the summer window, with Liverpool likely to see their name at the front of the queue.
