Manchester City, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United are reportedly interested in signing Lorran from Flamengo in the summer transfer window.
According to reputed Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola, Lorran is gaining popularity heading into the summer transfer window. A move to the Premier League might be on the cards, with Manchester City, Crystal Palace, and Newcastle United keen on landing the 17-year-old, who has a release clause worth €50 million in his contract with Flamengo.
Who is Lorran?
Lorran Lucas Pereira de Sousa, better known as Lorran, is one of the best young prospects in his homeland. Brazil is renowned for producing prospects with world-class potential by the bagfuls. The last few years have seen the advent of prodigies like Endrick and Estevao Willian. But the Flamengo whizkid is also gaining attention.
An attacking midfielder by trade, the Brazilian sensation can also play as a second striker and a right winger. Meanwhile, the 17-year-old has been taking age-group football by storm in his homeland and has two goals and two assists in nine appearances this term. Lorran’s progress has not gone unnoticed, alerting several well-known clubs, including Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Newcastle United.
High in Demand
Manchester City’s interest in securing Lorran’s services is hardly surprising. The Premier League champions have increased their forays into South America, with Julian Alvarez and Claudio Echeverri being recent recruits. The Flamengo wonderkid has now emerged as a viable target for Manchester City. His release clause of €50 million will unlikely pose a problem either.
As for Crystal Palace, they recently signed Matheus Franca from Flamengo. So, it is hardly surprising that another player from the club has emerged on the Eagles’ radar over a possible summer move. Lorran is thus an appealing option, considering Crystal Palace’s inconsistencies in the final third.
Meanwhile, Newcastle United have embarked on a largely youth-driven project following the takeover by the PIF. Prospects like Valentino Livramento, Lewis Miley, and Elliot Anderson have taken their chances. So, Lorran’s name appearing on Newcastle United’s wishlist is hardly surprising.
Reports have also linked Lorran with other high-profile clubs, including Real Madrid, Chelsea and Manchester United. So, it will be interesting to see where the 17-year-old Brazilian lands, with his release clause of €50 million unlikely to hinder any suitor.
