Arsenal and Aston Villa are among four teams vying for Robin Le Normand as Real Sociedad have a fight to keep their defender.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal and Aston Villa are part of a four-way battle to sign Robin Le Normand in the summer transfer window. European giants Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also keeping close tabs on the €40 million-rated Spanish international, with Real Sociedad ready to fight off suitors to keep the centre-back.

A four-way battle for Robin Le Normand?

Robin Le Normand is one of the two French-born Spanish international central defenders who might end up starting for Spain at the Euros. The Real Sociedad star has emerged over the last few seasons and established himself as an essential star in La Liga as top clubs begin circling for his signature.

Arsenal and Aston Villa are reportedly keen to sign the €40 million-rated Spanish international, with Real Sociedad not particularly looking to sell him. La Real might demand a reasonable fee of nearly €40 million for the defender, with Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan also part of the four-way battle. Recent reports have also linked him with Manchester United and Real Madrid.

The Gunners do not need a central defender, although they have sights on a few names much younger in their age profile. In any case, Le Normand’s impressive displays might see Mikel Arteta consider a move for the Spanish star, with Aston Villa competing from the Premier League for the Real Sociedad star.

Unlike Arsenal, Aston Villa might need a new defender as Unai Emery might plot critical changes to his backline. With the Birmingham-based side vying for a Champions League place next season, they might need to add experience to their backline, although it might come at the expense of a star like Tyrone Mings or Diego Carlos.

Atletico Madrid and Inter Milan are also chasing Le Normand

Robin Le Normand may have further choices other than the English side, with Atletico Madrid posing a particular challenge for the Premier League teams. Diego Simeone reportedly likes the €40 million-rated Spanish international’s profile. He might see the Spanish international as a critical addition should some of their current defenders, like Axel Witsel or Jose Maria Gimenez, depart.

Inter Milan are also contemplating a new defender signing, and his price tag may suit their finances. Simone Inzaghi might see his experience and find a place in his setup, with Stefan De Vrij, the candidate to depart as an outcome. Overall, the summer window does promise an intense transfer battle for the Real Sociedad star.
