Bundesliga champions Bayern Munich are reportedly ready to offer Joshua Kimmich in the deal to sign Ronald Araujo from Barcelona.

According to a report by Spanish outlet AS, Ronald Araujo is the subject of interest from Bayern Munich. The Bundesliga champions are keen on signing a centre-back in the summer transfer window. And they are ready to offer Joshua Kimmich in the deal to sign Araujo from Barcelona.

The Story of Ronald Araujo and Joshua Kimmich

Ronald Araujo has established himself as one of the best defenders in the world in the last few years. Such has been the Uruguayan international’s rise at FC Barcelona that he is now one of the club captains. Meanwhile, his exploits have not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs.

As for Joshua Kimmich, the German international has been with Bayern Munich for nearly nine years. A quintessential utility man, the 29-year-old is a top-class right-back and holding midfielder. He has turned out 378 times thus far for Bayern Munich, chipping in with 41 goals and 102 assists.

But Kimmich faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena after entering the final 18 months of his contract with Bayern Munich. The situation has exacerbated due to Thomas Tuchel’s run-ins with him. But the Bundesliga champions might have an ace up their sleeve, as they are ready to offer Kimmich in the deal to sign Araujo from Barcelona.

Set to Swap Bases?

Bayern Munich’s interest in Ronald Araujo stems from the inconsistent performances of the incumbent centre-backs. Kim Min-jae has blown hot and cold, while Matthijs de Ligt faces an uncertain future at the Allianz Arena. Meanwhile, Eric Dier is not a reliable performer and will unlikely be a long-term solution.

So, it behoves Bayern Munich to invest in a top-class centre-back heading into the summer transfer window. Araujo has thus emerged as a viable target, and Bayern will look to land him by offering Joshua Kimmich to Barcelona. Interestingly, the 29-year-old German utility man is a top summer target for the Blaugrana.

It will be interesting to see if Bayern Munich can convince Barcelona and Araujo to seal the deal this summer. But despite receiving Kimmich in the arrangement, the Blaugrana might not give the green light, considering the Uruguayan defender’s importance to the club.
