Arsenal are keen on Quinten Timber ahead of the summer as they could rival the likes of Newcastle United and Tottenham for the Feyenoord star.
According to HITC, Arsenal have set sights on Quinten Timber ahead of the summer window as Mikel Arteta ramps up his search for a new central midfielder. Tottenham and Newcastle United are also keen on the 22-year-old Feyenoord star, who also happens to be Gunners man Jurrien Timber’s twin brother.
Arsenal keen on Quinten Timber?
Many Arsenal fans had jokingly mentioned the idea of signing Quentin Timber, the twin brother of defender Jurrien Timber, in January to compensate for the loss of the latter through injury. Little did they know that their club would be cementing an interest in the former ahead of the summer window as Mikel Arteta ramps up his midfielder search.
Quinten has been a top performer for Feyenoord over the last two seasons, helping them win the Eredivisie title last term. This time, he has been a significant presence although the team are far away from retaining their league title, although the 22-year-old midfielder could earn a big move to the Premier League.
Arsenal have added him to their shortlist of options as they look to beat competition from Tottenham and Newcastle in the 22-year-old midfielder. Quintin likes to play a more box-to-box role at Feyenoord, which has yielded seven goals and as many assists this season.
Arsenal has missed such a presence this season, although, in recent games, Arteta has deployed Declan Rice in that role to good effect. However, the Gunners boss may seek a more permanent option to let the England international play his preferred role at the base of the midfield. Signing Quinten would be a dream signing for their fans, who might see the rare sight of twin brothers playing together.
Arsenal are evaluating midfield options
Quinten is only the latest name to be added to their list, which already consists of Real Sociedad star Martin Zubimendi, Everton’s Amadou Onana and Aston Villa’s Douglas Luiz. Arteta wants a solid presence in that position, significantly when Jorginho departs, for whom Arsenal have planned contract talks, although there are chances of the Italian departing.
The Gunners could also sell Thomas Partey should the midfielder fail to convince the club of his fitness levels, which has seen him miss most of the current season. An option like Quinten would prove a long-term long-term solution to the position, allowing Arteta to focus on other areas of the pitch.
