Manchester United will not part ways with Harry Maguire in the summer transfer window unless they receive a “hefty offer”.

According to a report by Dean Jones on Give Me Sport, Harry Maguire is the subject of interest from West Ham United. But the East London club might not have a straightforward chance to sign the English international in the summer transfer window unless they submit a “hefty offer” to Manchester United.

Harry Maguire and his Manchester United Ride

Harry Maguire has endured a topsy-turvy ride since joining Manchester United from Leicester City in August 2019 for a then-world-record transfer fee. The 31-year-old has constantly had to prove his naysayers wrong due to the enormous valuation. Meanwhile, the responsibility of being the Manchester United captain added the pressure.

The Englishman is no longer the Manchester United captain after Erik ten Hag replaced him with Bruno Fernandes last summer. In addition, he faced an uncertain future at Old Trafford after barely featuring in the Dutchman’s first season as the Manchester United manager. However, a move did not materialise despite heavy links with West Ham United.

Maguire has had to wage a hard battle to win his place back in the starting lineup and has succeeded. The 62-cap English international has turned out 24 times thus far this term, chipping in with two goals and two assists. But recent reports have reintroduced the speculation surrounding his Manchester United future.

West Ham Still Interested

West Ham United revived their interest in Harry Maguire ahead of the upcoming summer transfer window. The East London club will likely part ways with Nayef Aguerd, while Angelo Ogbonna is well into his thirties and approaching the end of his career. So, it behoves West Ham to invest in Maguire, who will immediately become the club’s best defender.

But the Hammers face an uphill battle to land the 62-cap English international after failing to land him last summer. The latest update might be a nail in their coffin, with Manchester United “not actively” looking to part ways with Maguire.

The Red Devils will only entertain a sale if a suitor submits a “hefty offer” for the 31-year-old. So, a summer move for Maguire seems unlikely, with Manchester United appreciating his value in the dressing room.
