Chelsea might be subject to receiving subpar offers for their 24-year-old midfield mainstay Conor Gallagher.

According to a report by Football Insider, Chelsea are under pressure to sanction a few departures before the end of June to balance their books and they are considering selling Conor Gallagher. But, the Blues might end up receiving lowball offers for the 24-year-old.

Gallagher came up the ranks at Chelsea and made it to their first team in the summer of 2022. He had a decent first season at the club. But, reports suggested they were ready to sanction his departure. However, he ended up staying at the club and has since worked his way into Mauricio Pochettino’s plans.

The 24-year-old has been a mainstay for them this season. He has featured in 38 matches and has racked up close to 3000 minutes. His incredible performances have put him on the radar of multiple top clubs. While he is currently a very important part of their team, the Blues are ready to sanction his departure due to their financial situation.

The London club have spent a fortune on transfers over the past few windows and they have recorded significant losses in the previous two accounting years. They need to sell a few of their stars before the end of June to avoid any sanctions.

Chelsea ready to sell Conor Gallagher

Gallagher is one of the players they are ready to part ways with along with a few others. But, they might not get the kind of fee they were expecting to make from his sale. His contract runs out in the summer of 2025. While the Blues wanted to extend his stay, the contract renewal talks have stalled as they can’t afford to offer him a new deal with improved terms because of their financial situation.

With just over a year left on his deal, the Blues don’t really have many options to play with. They will have to sanction his departure in the summer or else they will have to risk losing out on him for free. Interested clubs are well aware of the situation and they are looking at the 24-year-old as a bargain option to bolster their midfield.

They are unlikely to meet Chelsea’s valuation and the Blues might only receive lowball offers for their academy graduate. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that have been linked with Gallagher for a while now and it will be interesting to see if they make a move in the coming weeks.
