Arsenal are keen on having 25-year-old Sporting CP ace Viktor Gyokeres in their ranks and are ready to sell Reiss Nelson to fund the transfer.

According to a report by Football Insider, Arsenal are looking to further bolster their squad ahead of next season as they look to compete for all major titles. The Gunners have started planning for the upcoming summer transfer window and they have Sporting CP’s Viktor Gyokeres on their radar.

The 25-year-old has been in sensational form this season and signing him will require a huge investment. As a result, the North London club could sanction the departure of their 24-year-old academy graduate Reiss Nelson.

Reiss Nelson could part ways with Arsenal

Nelson has been a part of the Arsenal team since the age of nine. He came up the ranks and made it to their first team in the summer of 2019. While the right-winger was considered a huge prospect for the future, he has never really had an extended run in their first team.

The 24-year-old is way down the pecking order under Mikel Arteta and has had a single start in the Premier League this season. He has featured in a total of 23 matches but has racked up less than 700 minutes of first-team football.

Nelson is not really happy with his situation at the club and is considering parting ways. Meanwhile, the club are also looking to move him on along with two other academy graduates as they plan for a big summer ahead.

Arsenal to push for Viktor Gyokeres

The Gunners are looking to add a new world-class striker to their ranks in the summer. Arteta is not happy with the output of his strikers and wants someone who can guarantee goals up top. As a result, they are looking to sign Sporting CP star Viktor Gyokeres.

The Swedish international has scored 36 goals and has also bagged 14 assists since joining the Portuguese club last summer. His impressive run has attracted a lot of attention and the Gunners are looking to prise him away from Sporting.

His contract with them runs until the summer of 2028, as a result, the Portuguese club are in no rush to sanction his departure. However, there is a release clause of £85 million in his contract and the Gunners could trigger it to land him at the club.

While Arsenal’s financial situation is decent, they are looking to improve it by sanctioning the departure of Nelson. As per reports, they could accept an offer of around £25 million which will be listed as pure profit as the 24-year-old is an academy graduate. The money raised could eventually help them fund Gyokeres’ transfer.
