Manchester City are ready to hold contract renewal talks with their 30-year-old Brazilian shot-stopper Ederson.
According to a report by Daily Star, Manchester City have made a decision regarding the future of Ederson. The treble winners are keen on securing his services for years to come and are ready to open contract renewal talks with the Brazilian goalkeeper.
Ederson’s time at Manchester City
Ederson arrived at Manchester City in the summer of 2017. Pep Guardiola’s team forked out £35 million to sign him from Benfica. The 30-year-old has since been a mainstay in their team over the years.
In the ongoing season, he has featured 36 matches and has 12 clean sheets to his name which has kept City in contention for all major titles.
The Brazil international has helped them win five Premier League titles as well as a Champions League. He is amongst the best shot-stoppers in the world and Guardiola is keen on having him in his ranks for as long as possible.
His current deal with City runs out in the summer of 2026. There will still be two years left on his deal in the summer, as a result, there will be no pressure on the Manchester-based club to sanction his departure. Despite that, they are keen on negotiating a new deal with their 30-year-old star.
A new long-term deal for Ederson
Ederson still has quite a few years left in him and Guardiola has no intentions of losing the Brazilian ace given his importance in his tactical setup. The manager wants his services secured for years to come. As a result, the club are ready to open contract renewal terms with the former Benfica goalkeeper.
They are expected to offer him a new long-term deal that will see his wages rise from £120,000-a-week to £200-a-week. It will be a great reward for the City star who has been pivotal to their success in recent years but last received an extension back in 2021.
Given the kind of offer the Manchester-based club are ready to present, Ederon might not have a problem putting pen to paper.
