VfB Stuttgart will reportedly demand €20 million to sell Chris Fuhrich, with West Ham United interested in signing him.
According to reputed German journalist Florian Plettenberg, Chris Fuhrich is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are in the market for a wide attacker heading into the summer transfer window. And they will need to fork out €20 million to sign the 26-year-old winger from VfB Stuttgart.
Who is Chris Fuhrich?
Chris Fuhrich travelled across North Rhine-Westphalia and represented many German clubs during his formative years, passing through the academies at SG Suderwich, FC Schalke 04, Borussia Dortmund, VfL Bochum, and Rot-Weiss Oberhausen. He did not start his senior career well either, with his stints with FC Koln, Borussia Dortmund, and SC Paderborn not yielding much success.
That changed when the German winger joined VfB Stuttgart in July 2021. Since then, the 26-year-old has come leaps and bounds, breaking into his national team while being a regular for the Bundesliga outfit. Fuhrich is enjoying a solid 2023/24 campaign thus far, contributing to 15 goals in 29 appearances across all competitions.
The German international has found the back of the net eight times while providing seven assists. Meanwhile, Fuhrich’s progress at VfB Stuttgart has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several Bundesliga clubs. In addition, he is a target for West Ham United.
West Ham Want Fuhrich
West Ham’s interest in Chris Fuhrich is understandable. The Hammers bolstered their attack last summer by signing Mohammed Kudus from Ajax. But they can do with a top-class wide attacker to take the next step in their evolution as they look to become European regulars season after season.
So, it behoves West Ham to invest in a forward who is a natural on the flanks. Fuhrich has thus emerged as a viable target, as the German international can be the perfect foil to Jarrod Bowen and Kudus. The Hammers now know his price tag, with VfB Stuttgart demanding €20 million to part ways with him.
€20 million seems like a fair price for a productive winger who chips in with regular goals and assists. But it will be interesting to see if West Ham United will shell out the required sum to secure Fuhrich’s services.
