Newcastle United are ready to battle it out with Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United for the signatures of Napoli ace Victor Osimhen.

According to Corriere dello Sport via Sport Witness, Newcastle United have been linked with Victor Osimhen for a while now, and they could make a move for his services in the upcoming summer transfer window. While Arsenal, Chelsea, and Manchester United are all keen on having the Nigerian international in their ranks, the Magpies are ready to rival them in the pursuit of his signatures.

Victor Osimhen’s €130 million release clause

The 25-year-old is considered to be amongst the best forwards in world football at this stage. The Nigerian striker has been scoring goals for fun over the last 24 months, and there is huge interest in him from across Europe.

Clubs were keen on signing him last summer, but he ended up staying. However, that might not happen this time around, even though he has over two years left on his deal, as everyone expects to leave after the end of the season.

There is a €130 million release clause in his contract that could lead to his departure. Napoli will surely be hoping that one of the interested clubs comes along and triggers the clause. According to the report, Newcastle United could be the club that ends up doing so.

Newcastle to battle Arsenal, Chelsea, United

The Magpies have been linked with the 25-year-old since PIF took control of the club. They feel he could help them compete with the top clubs in the league. However, Newcastle United have struggled to reach the levels they did last season and are not as attractive a destination as they were last summer without Champions League football to offer.

Even Chelsea have been linked with Victor Osimhen for a long while. The Blues desperately need a new striker to lead their new project. But, even they will struggle as they are unlikely to qualify for any European competition.

Manchester United are also keen on the Nigerian striker as they look to revive the club under the new ownership of Sir Jim Ratcliffe. While signing a striker is their priority, they still have a lot to do in the league to ensure they have Champions League football for next season.

Arsenal do have two quality strikers in their ranks, but neither has been scoring enough goals. As a result, Mikel Arteta is keen on having a new number nine. The Gunners will surely have European competition to offer and the North London club could be a great destination for Osimhen.

But, it will be interesting to see which club is willing to fork out €130 million. Newcastle United will surely find it difficult as they are not in the best of shapes in terms of FFP having spent a significant amount since their takeover.
