Tottenham’s pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee could fall into trouble as Antonio Conte’s choices could have a big say on his future.
According to TV Play Italy, Tottenham could see their pursuit of Joshua Zirkzee get muddy due to the presence of their former manager, Antonio Conte. The Italian tactician could take over at Bayern Munich and might urge the club to trigger their clause for Bologna’s 22-year-old attacker.
Antonio Conte to complicate Tottenham’s Joshua Zirkzee purzuit?
Joshua Zirkzee was a name on every top club’s shortlist ahead of the January window, as Bologna must have worked really hard to ward off suitors. The Dutchman has been their top scorer this season, fueling their improbable quest to finish in the top four in Italy. They do have plenty of challenges before the campaign ends, although they are very much in contention, mainly because of the 22-year-old attacker.
When the summer window opens, Bologna might have to reluctantly part ways with the striker as a host of clubs are planning on approaches for the 22-year-old attacker. Tottenham are one of those, and they are aware of the growing competition for Zirkzee’s signature.
Bayern Munich are also thought as suitors, with the Bavarians holding favourable clauses that would see them land Zirkzee for half the fee Bologna are demanding for the striker. While they were not actively looking at him, the German giants might do so at the behest of Antonio Conte, who might take charge from Thomas Tuchel in the summer.
Should Conte feel the need to bring Zirkzee back to the club, he may have dealt an indirect blow to former side Tottenham’s hopes of landing the 22-year-old attacker. The Italian likes to play with two forwards in the front line and may see the Bologna man’s quality as something he would like at Bayern.

It’s a tough choice for Zirkzee, considering the wide-ranging clubs chasing his signature. Some reports have suggested that the 22-year-old attacker has no interest in returning to Germany, which may boost the hopes of Manchester United, who are very keen on the forward.
Arsenal are also considered a suitor, while there are a few others who might like what Zirkzee brings to the table. While he may see the appeal of returning to Bayern over some unfinished business and the fact that Conte likes him, any decision to go back there will solely rest on the Bologna star.
