Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly keen on signing 22-year-old Dutch striker Joshua Zirkzee from Serie A club Bologna.

A report from Tutto Mercato Web has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur want to sign Joshua Zirkzee. But the North London club will face competition from Arsenal and Aston Villa for the talented young striker. The Bologna striker has a release clause worth €40 million in his contract with the Serie A club.

Tottenham Want a Striker

It is no secret that Spurs want to bring in a quality striker at the end of the season, and Zirkzee should prove to be a quality addition. The Dutchman has eight goals and four assists in Serie A this season and should improve with coaching and experience. He could be a long-term asset for Tottenham if they can get the deal done.

Spurs chose not to replace Harry Kane at the start of the season, and they were hoping for Richarlison to step up and fill that void. While the Brazilian international has improved lately, Tottenham have had to rely on Son Heung-min to bail them out more often than not.

The South Korean international clearly needs more help and support. So, the Bologna striker should prove to be a superb addition. But Tottenham face stiff competition from Arsenal and Aston Villa for the 22-year-old.

Arsenal and Aston Villa Also Keen

Meanwhile, Arsenal could use a quality striker as well. Gabriel Jesus has scored just three goals in the league this season, and Arsenal cannot hope to win the league title without more quality additions.

As far as Aston Villa are concerned, Ollie Watkins has been in phenomenal form for them. But the West Midlands club do not have any other reliable options in the attack. They need to bring in more depth to compete in Europe and win trophies.

The Bologna striker reportedly has a €40 million release clause, and all three Premier League clubs have the financial muscle to afford him. It will be interesting to see where the 22-year-old striker ends up.

All three clubs are well placed to secure Champions League qualification for next season, and the battle for the 22-year-old striker is likely to be a thrilling one. Arsenal and Tottenham will probably be more attractive destinations compared to Aston Villa, and it remains to be seen whether Unai Emery can convince Zirkzee to move to Villa Park.

And why should Arsenal and Tottenham probably be a more attractive destination compared to Aston Villa? Is it that they are both in Londonistan….. or is it Londonstine these days?
