Brighton & Hove Albion eyeing Reiss Nelson swoop

Brighton & Hove Albion are reportedly tracking the situation of Reiss Nelson at fellow Premier League club Arsenal.

According to TEAMtalk, Brighton & Hove Albion are looking to sign 24-year-old Arsenal homegrown player Reiss Nelson at the end of the season. The attacker might leave the North London club in the summer transfer window.

Nelson has been an important squad player for Arsenal. But he needs to play more often at this stage of his career. He has a goal and two assists to his name across all competitions. The versatile attacker has started just once in the Champions League for Arsenal this season, and he is yet to start a single game in the Premier League.

It is evident that Arsenal will not be able to provide him with opportunities in the coming seasons. So, a move away would be ideal for him. Brighton need more quality and cutting-edge in the final third. Nelson is versatile enough to operate in a number of roles, and he will add creativity and goals to the side.

Reiss Nelson would thrive at Brighton

Regular football at Brighton could help him develop further. Working under a quality manager like Roberto De Zerbi would be ideal for his development. The Italian could play a key role and help him fulfil his tremendous potential. His attacking system could get the best out of the player.

Arsenal are already lacking in depth, and they might not want to lose the homegrown prospect anytime soon. However, they will be powerless to stop him from leaving if he decides to force a move. However, they were open to loaning him out this past winter.

Nelson must focus on his development at this stage of his career, and he needs to play every week. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can negotiate a reasonable deal at the end of the season.

The 24-year-old has proven his quality in English football through his cameos, and there is no doubt that he could develop into a reliable attacker with the right guidance and experience. He could prove to be a quality long-term addition for Brighton if they can sign him for a reasonable price this summer.
