Manchester United are paying attention to the situation with Francesco Camarda as they join a host of clubs in chasing the AC Milan prodigy.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport via Sport Witness, Manchester United are now in the race for Francesco Camarda. The AC Milan youngster can sign a professional contract with the Italian club having turned 16, as a planned delay is causing speculation with the 16-year-old Manchester City-linked attacking prodigy.

Manchester United join Francesco Camarda’s chase

Francesco Camarda became Serie A’s youngest debutant when he came off the bench in the narrow win over Fiorentina in November. He was featured again in the next game against Frosinone, although he had not played for the first team since.

Camarda comes at the back of a solid reputation for his performances with the AC Milan youth team side, which has attracted the interest of many clubs. Amid all the links with some of the big sides, the teenager seemingly appeared to commit his future at San Siro, although there are complications with that deal.

Manchester City were considered front-runners, but now they are joined by Manchester United in the chase. The Red Devils are attentive to Camarda’s situation and could pounce on the opportunity should they get a favourable path towards the 16-year-old.

The complicated part is that while the 16-year-old Manchester City-linked attacking prodigy could sign his first professional contract, he can only join an English side once he turns 18. That will be two years from now, which may see him stay at Milan, who are somewhat delaying a new deal to ensure they have their youngster for a longer period.

Francesco Camarda’s situation at AC Milan explained

Camarda has yet to sign professional terms with Milan despite suggestions the club had everything prepared in the background. Given the rules surrounding young players, the Rosoneri can only offer a maximum three-year deal, and should the teenager sign that now, it will only be valid until the summer of 2026.

Hence, Milan are planning to offer him a deal in July, and given he can sign for an English club once he turns 18, they feel confident of holding on to him. The risk here is that Camarda will have turned 18 by the time the summer window of 2026 opens, leaving him with a year on his professional contract, something Milan will plan to address in the next year or so, as money will then play a significant role in decision making.
