Arsenal will prioritise signing an established striker like Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen ahead of RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko.

According to Ben Jacobs via Give Me Sport, Arsenal are keen on bolstering their attack ahead of next season. The Gunners will look to bring in a new number nine in the upcoming transfer window. While they have been linked with Benjamin Sesko, the North London club would prefer signing Ivan Toney or Victor Osimhen.

Mikel Arteta has done wonders at Arsenal. They were in the title race right until the end of last season and similar is the situation this time. But, there is still room for improvement particularly up top.

Arsenal’s search for a new number nine

While Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus are two quality forwards, neither of them is consistent goal scorers. As a result, the Gunners are expected to be in the market for a new number nine during the summer.

Benjamin Sesko is a young star, who has caught the attention of quite a few English clubs. The 20-year-old forward has made quite a name for himself since joining RB Leipzig last summer. Arsenal are scouting the 11-goal star at the Bundesliga club as they consider making a move for him in the summer.

But, according to Jacobs, the North London club would prefer making a move for a more established striker. Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Napoli’s Victor Osimhen are two top-quality forwards that have been on their radar.

Toney, Osimhen are priority targets for Arsenal

Toney is now back playing football after serving his ban. His contract with the Bees runs out in the summer of 2025, and a move in the summer looks likely. He has proven himself in the English top flight, and it won’t take him long to settle in at Arsenal. But, the Bees won’t sell him on the cheap.

Osimhen is amongst the best forwards in world football. He has been on fire over the last two seasons, and his arrival will surely help the Gunners take the next step and challenge for all major titles. While Arteta’s team has not found it difficult to score goals, their arrival of a world-class number nine will help them push ahead of Liverpool and Manchester City in the Premier League.

But, Arsenal are not the only club interested in the duo, with Chelsea also on the lookout for a new striker who can guarantee goals. Toney and Osimhen are both on the radar of the West London club. So, it will not be easy for the Gunners to compete with Chelsea given the kind of financial power they have.
