Chelsea are ready to sanction the departure of Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja in the summer.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Chelsea are planning to go big once again in the upcoming summer transfer window. But, the Blues need to first raise funds by offloading a few of their players and they have decided to let go of Conor Gallagher, Trevoh Chalobah and Armando Broja.
The London club have spent a fortune on new players since Todd Boehly took charge. Those big money spendings haven’t helped their Financial Fair Play status and in order to improve their situation, the Blues need to make a few pure profit sales in the summer.
Offloading homegrown players will help them register pure profit, as a result, the club have decided to sanction the departure of three of their academy graduates, Gallagher, Chalobah and Broja.
All three academy graduates transfer listed
While the 24-year-old centre-back had a sensational start to life in the first team, things haven’t gone according to plan for him of late. He has missed the majority of matches this term because of injury.
While he is back fit and recently started in one of the games, Chalobah is not in the long-term plans of Mauricio Pochettino. There is interest in his services from multiple top clubs across Europe and finding him a new club might not be that big a challenge.
Meanwhile, Armando Broja doesn’t really have a bright future at Chelsea. While he did show great promise early in his career, the 22-year-old striker has failed to fire in the ongoing season. After a disappointing first six months of the season, the Blues decided to send him out on loan to Fulham.
Since making the move, he has featured in three matches for the Cottagers but is yet to contribute towards a goal. With the London club keen on signing a high-profile striker in the summer, Broja’s exit is unlikely to be a problem for them.
Gallagher has been a mainstay in the Chelsea team since the start of the season. He has only missed one Premier League game this term. While Pochettino highly values Gallagher’s presence in his squad, the club are still willing to sanction his departure.
They are willing to go against their manager in order to ensure they have the funds to go big in the summer. Tottenham Hotspur are one of the clubs that have been linked with him over the past 12 months. They still remain interested in him and could revive their interest if he is available.
