Fulham have reached an agreement with Chelsea for the transfer of 22-year-old Albanian striker Armando Broja.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Fulham have struck a deal with Chelsea to acquire the services of Armando Broja until the end of the season. The Cottagers have been working hard to reinforce their attack before the end of the January window and they have succeeded in doing so.
Broja’s future has been the talk of the town since the start of the winter transfer window. The 22-year-old hasn’t had enough first-team minutes at Chelsea in the ongoing season. He has failed to cement himself in Mauricio Pochettino’s starting XI. As a result, he has been linked with a move away from the club.
Multiple clubs from the Premier League wanted to acquire his services, and Pochettino was ready to sanction his departure. But the Blues had certain terms which proved to be a major hurdle for clubs until now.
They were looking to cash in on their youth product. The Blues were not ready to let him leave on a straightforward loan as they wanted a buy obligation in the deal, and their valuation was quite high.
Fulham are one of the clubs linked with the 22-year-old since the start of the window. They submitted a loan offer earlier in the window but that was rejected by the Blues. Even Wolves tried to sign him but failed to strike a deal with the London club.
However, the Cottagers were not ready to give up, and they decided to knock on the door with another offer. And, it seems to have helped them win the race this time out. The Blues have taken a U-turn regarding the terms of the deal and have sanctioned a straightforward loan move.
Fulham were in desperate need of attacking reinforcement following the injury to Raul Jimenez. Bringing in a new forward with the end of the window was a priority and they have managed to strike a deal with Chelsea. The Cottagers will pay a loan fee of £4 million to have the 22-year-old’s services until the end of the season. Broja will undergo his medical tonight before he ends up putting pen to paper.
