Aston Villa are reportedly keen on signing 26-year-old Arsenal defender Kieran Tierney in the summer transfer window.

A report from TEAMtalk has claimed that Kieran Tierney could be up for grabs in the summer, and Aston Villa are plotting a summer move. The West Midlands club need to bring in defensive reinforcements, and the 26-year-old could prove to be a quality acquisition.

The Scottish defender is reportedly valued at €30 million, and it will be interesting to see if Aston Villa are prepared to pay up. He is currently on loan at Real Sociedad and has been quite impressive for the Spanish club. They are willing to sign him on loan once again next year.

It will be interesting to see what Arsenal decide. It is evident that the Scottish defender is not a key player for the North London club. So, they could look to sell him permanently. Letting him go out on loan again will not benefit Arsenal. Instead, they could raise €30 million from his departure and spend it on a player who can improve their squad.

Leaving Arsenal would be ideal for Kieran Tierney

The 26-year-old needs to play regularly at this stage of his career, and moving to Aston Villa would be ideal for him if Arsenal are unwilling to give him opportunities. Tierney will not want to head into the next season with an uncertain future.

Sorting out his permanent future would allow him to focus on his football and get his career back on track. A permanent move to Aston Villa would be quite appealing for the defender.

Unai Emery’s men are currently pushing for Champions League qualification, and they will be an attractive destination for most players. The reported €30 million asking price seems reasonable for a defender, who has proven himself at this level. In addition, Aston Villa certainly have the financial means to afford him.

It remains to be seen whether the West Midlands club can secure an agreement with the North London giants at the end of the season. Tierney might also prefer to stay in England instead of heading back to Spain for another season.
