Chelsea are looking to sign 18-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder Gabriel Moscardo on loan ahead of next season.
According to a report by Fichajes, Chelsea want to sign Gabriel Moscardo on loan in the summer. The Blues want to bring a new defensive midfielder ahead of next season and they feel the Paris Saint-Germain star could be an ideal fit for the club.
Moscardo came up the ranks at Corinthians and made quite a name for himself quite early in his career. He made it to their first team in the summer of 2023 and in just six months’ time, giants from Europe battled it out for his services.
Eventually, Paris Saint-Germain won the race for his services earlier in the year. They decided to let him stay at the Brazilian club on loan until the end of the season. The teenager will now join his parent club after the 2023/24 season comes to an end.
Moscardo is an incredible talent but he is unlikely to have a big enough role in PSG’s first team next season. They will most likely look to send him out on loan in order to give him the much-needed minutes to further improve himself.
Chelsea pushing for Moscardo’s services
Chelsea might have failed to win the race for his services in the winter. But, they are still interested in having him in their ranks. Mauricio Pochettino is a huge fan of the 18-year-old and is keen on having him at his disposal.
The Blues are looking for more depth in the defensive midfield department and the Argentine boss feels he could be a great addition to their squad. He will give them the much-needed cover and will be a cost-effective option. As a result, they are looking to bring him in on a season-long loan.
While Chelsea would love a buy option/obligation, that is unlikely to happen given that PSG recently signed him and are looking at him as someone who can help them in the long run.
Not only will Moscardo add depth to the London club’s ranks, but his versatility will give Pochettino multiple options to work with. They will look to begin negotiations with the French giants as early as possible to avoid competition.
