Chelsea are ready to walk away from their pursuit of Gabriel Moscardo, who appears closer to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

Fichajes insists Chelsea are ready to quit their pursuit of Gabriel Moscardo owing to multiple factors. The 18-year-old emerged as a big target for the Blues, who have kept track of the Brazilian for some time now, but he appears closer to joining Paris Saint-Germain.

Chelsea have spent vast amounts of money on young players in recent windows. The club have adopted a renewed transfer policy under their new owners to sign players, keeping the future in mind. The Blues are open to taking a hit in the current climate but are eager to build for the coming years rather than the present.

They have looked at the South American market with more intent than anywhere else and managed to bring in some promising stars. There are a few in the pipeline, with the likes of Kendry Paez only eligible to come after a certain age.

Brazilian rules only allow players after they turn 18. Hence, they had eyes on several stars, especially Gabriel Moscardo, but the pursuit of the 18-year-old Barcelona target may have slipped away from Chelsea’s grasp.

Barcelona had an interest, but the finances involved in the deal may have ended their pursuit. Corinthians are adamant about their demands. Chelsea reportedly had an offer on the table, but it fell well short of the player’s current valuations.

Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Chelsea does not plan to bid, as he reported on Moscardo being close to joining Paris Saint-Germain. Luis Campos has personally led the campaign to sign the 18-year-old and may have convinced Corinthians with a sizeable offer.

As for Chelsea, they are about to abandon their pursuit of Moscardo, probably conceding defeat to PSG. The Brazilian teenager also had the attention of several other top-rated clubs, including Arsenal, but it appears the French giants have stolen the march.

Chelsea might have also pulled out owing to the finances involved in the deal, as they would have disagreed to overpay over their valuation of the player. Meanwhile, PSG might look to close the deal as soon as possible to avoid further complications and will appear pleased having beaten a hoist of top clubs, especially those from the Premier League.
