Liverpool are reportedly planning to hold new contract talks with defender Andy Robertson this summer.

According to Football Insider’s Pete O’Rourke, Liverpool are increasingly confident that Andrew Robertson will remain at the club for the foreseeable future.

Whilst the Scotsman’s contract is not set to expire until 2026, the Reds are eager to tie down the defender with Bayern Munich circling for his signature.

It was a bargain £8 million fee that first saw Robertson join the Reds, leaving Hull City after their relegation in 2017.

Since arriving at Anfield, the left-back has become a huge fan favourite, racking up nine goals and 64 assists in 282 matches for the Reds across seven seasons at the club.

Striking up a partnership with right-back Trent Alexander-Arnold, the pair have been renowned on Merseyside for their crossing and assisting abilities.

To be precise, the 29-year-old has set up 58 goals in the Premier League, the joint-most of any defender in the history of the competition alongside teammate and fellow full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

The Scottish international has enjoyed major success during his time with Liverpool, lifting both the Champions League and Premier League as well as numerous other domestic trophies.

This season, he has just one goal and one assist under his belt from 15 outings, having missed three months of action due to a shoulder dislocation while representing Scotland.

Andrew Robertson to stay at Anfield

Bayern Munich are said to have earmarked the Scotland international as their number one choice to replace Alphonso Davies, who has apparently verbally agreed a move to Real Madrid.

The Bavarians, who will part company with Thomas Tuchel in the summer, are hopeful that they can convince Robertson to embark on a new challenge after seven successful years at Anfield, especially with Jurgen Klopp also moving on.

The 29-year-old’s contract with the Premier League leaders still has just over two years left to run, but the Reds supposedly have no concerns over Robertson wanting to make the move to the Allianz Arena, and they do not believe that Klopp’s impending departure will have any impact on his future.

Football Insider claims that Liverpool expect to rebuff interest from Bayern for Robertson this summer and are confident that they will continue working with the defender for the long-term, with fresh contract talks on the cards.
