Adrien Rabiot prioritising Juventus stay amid Tottenham interest

Adrien Rabiot is reportedly prioritising signing a new contract at Serie A giants Juventus, thus handing a blow to Tottenham.

According to Fabrizio Romano on Caught Offside, Adrien Rabiot wants to remain at Juventus beyond the summer transfer window. The 28-year-old is prioritising signing a new contract with the Serie A club. The development has come as a blow for his suitors, including Tottenham Hotspur.

Adrien Rabiot and his Juventus Journey

Adrien Rabiot has been one of the best midfielders in Serie A since joining Juventus in a Bosman move in July 2019. A graduate of the Paris Saint-Germain youth division, the Frenchman spent the first half a dozen years of his career at the club level with PSG before leaving the club as a free agent after failing to agree to acceptable terms over a new contract.

The 28-year-old has endured a topsy-turvy ride at Juventus but has been one of the most consistent performers for the Bianconeri. He has turned out 200 times thus far for the Serie A outfit, chipping in with 21 goals and 15 assists. But Rabiot’s future at the Allianz Stadium is uncertain.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup finalist has entered the final six months of his contract with Juventus. The situation has piqued the interest of several Premier League bigwigs, with Tottenham among his suitors. But the player wants to continue his stint with the Serie A club by signing a new deal.

Tottenham Want Rabiot

Tottenham’s interest in Adrien Rabiot is understandable. The North London club will likely part ways with Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the summer transfer window, with a spell in the Serie A on the cards. In addition, Tanguy Ndombele does not feature in Ange Postecoglou’s plans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

So, it behoves Tottenham to invest in a midfielder in the summer transfer window. Rabiot has thus emerged as a viable target for the North London club. But the latest update has come as a blow for Tottenham, with the 28-year-old keen on continuing his stint with Juventus.

Rabiot signed a one-year contract with the Bianconeri last summer amid interest from several European bigwigs. The 2024 summer transfer window is the third successive summer of widespread speculation surrounding his future. But history will likely repeat itself if he signs a new deal.
