Barcelona expect Manchester City to facilitate the transfer of 22-year-old defensive sensation Mika Marmol from Las Palmas to Girona.

According to Mundo Deportivo via Sport Witness, Girona are interested in acquiring the services of Mika Marmol. The 22-year-old defensive sensation has been doing wonders in the ongoing season and his performances have put him on the radar of the City Group club.

Marmol was a part of Barelona’s famous youth academy La Masia. He came up the ranks at the club before joining FC Andorra in the summer of 2022. While he has since made the move to Las Palmas, the Catalan giants still hold 50% rights of the defender.

Marmol’s rise at Las Palmas and the price tag

Since joining Las Palmas, he has featured in a total of 24 matches. The 22-year-old has been a rock in the heart of the defence, and he has managed to establish himself as a mainstay in the team. His performances have attracted a lot of interest, and Girona are one of the clubs keen on his signatures.

The City Group-owned club have been on fire in the ongoing season. They are currently pushing for the league title and have already started planning for the summer ahead. While there is interest in the services of quite a few of their players, they have their eyes focused on reinforcing their squad.

They want to bring in a new centre-back, and Marmol is their top target. But, the 22-year-old will not come cheap. He still has over two years left on his deal, and Las Palmas will look for around €30 million. That fee sounds a bit too much for Girona.

Barcelona hopeful of Manchester City’s move

Barcelona believe Manchester City could come to Girona’s aid. Both clubs are owned by the City Group, helping Manchester City land Savinho. And since the English giants have enormous financial strength, they can sign the 22-year-old and then send him out on loan to help Girona out.

Meanwhile, Barcelona are not looking to bring him back to the club as they are well covered at the back. But, they are not in the best of financial situations and would surely benefit a lot from his sale. Since Barcelona hold 50% of the right, Las Palmas will only get around €10 million with Barcelona all set to make a large chunk of money from him sale.
