Arsenal are set to step up their watch on Viktor Gyokeres as Mikel Arteta’s side could approach one of their striker targets.

According to A Bola via Sport Witness, Arsenal are stepping up their scouting on Viktor Gyokeres between now and the end of the season. The Gunners have highlighted the 30-goal attacker as an essential target on their list and could battle rivals for his signature.

Arsenal stepping up Viktor Gyokeres’ pursuit

Arsenal, among many top teams, will enter the summer market in search of a new striker. The Gunners have been prolific this season without a goalscorer capable of getting 20-30 goals in a season, as they view a new striker with the idea of elevating the overall quality of their attacking activities.

For a long, Ivan Toney’s name has rung in the media, although the chances of the Gunners signing the Brentford star are far less than anticipated. They have several names of that sort on their list, including Viktor Gyokeres. The 30-goal attacker, who has had a tremendous first season with Sporting CP, could be on the move in the summer and carries a €100 million release clause in his contract.

Arsenal are unlikely to pay that much and know rival interest, including Chelsea’s. The Gunners have now stepped up their chase for the Swedish attacker and could increase scouting activities around the Sporting CP star in the coming period.

Reports in Portugal insist Arsenal and other clubs will begin bidding for the striker at some point, with the Gunners thoroughly impressed by his application on the pitch. Any move will depend on the price tag Sporting will demand, although, from the footballing side, the Gunners could offer what the player might desire.

Arsenal’s striker shortlist

Arsenal are not about to put all their eggs in one basket as they seek many names in the market. With Toney and Gyokeres already on their shortlist, the Gunners are also chasing Victor Osimhen of Napoli, destined to leave Italy in the summer.

Brighton’s Evan Ferguson is also a big target, although the Seagulls will look for around 100 million from suitors should they decide to sell the Irish forward. Either way, Arsenal’s list is long and have many top-draw names when it comes to their striker search.

His age at 25 is a negative, his overpriced value is a negative, his one season wonder is a negative, he did not score as many in England is a negative, he could not reach the heights at Coventry is a negative. He reminds me of Folarin Balogun who did not reach the heights at Middlesbrough but did well in the French league as a one season wonder. Balogun is now playing well below expectations. You have to be wary of one season wonders, especially overpriced unproven old 25 year olds.
