West Ham United will reportedly compete with fellow Premier League club Bournemouth for 21-year-old AS Roma midfield prospect Edoardo Bove.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Edoardo Bove is the subject of interest from West Ham United. The Hammers are in the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. And they have set their sights on the 21-year-old highly-rated AS Roma midfield prospect.

Who is Edoardo Bove?

Edoardo Bove is a native of Rome and spent his formative years in his homeland. He began his youth career at Boreale Donorione before joining AS Roma in 2012. Since then, the highly-rated Italian midfield sensation has come leaps and bounds, rising through the ranks before breaking into the first-team squad.

The 21-year-old made his first-team debut for AS Roma in May 2021, with Jose Mourinho being a fan of his qualities. He is now a mainstay in the middle of the park for the Giallorossi. Bove has amassed over 2,000 minutes of game time thus far this season, turning out 32 times while chipping in with one goal and two assists.

The youngster’s progress at AS Roma has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several well-known clubs. Premier League outfits, in particular, are keen on signing him, with West Ham United involved in the transfer tussle to secure his services in the summer transfer window.

West Ham Want Bove

The Hammers have been busy in the market for midfielders in the last two transfer windows. While Edson Alvarez and James Ward-Prowse joined West Ham United last summer, Kalvin Phillips completed a permanent move in January. While the East London club will look to complete a permanent move for Phillips this summer, they might face competition from Leeds United.

So, West Ham United should keep their options open heading into the summer transfer window. And several candidates, including Pablo Maia, have emerged on their radar. But Edoardo Bove is also a viable target, although they will face stiff competition from Bournemouth.

The 21-year-old highly-rated Italian midfield prospect is happy at AS Roma. He also has a long-term contract with the Giallorossi. So, it might take a bomb for West Ham and Bournemouth to prise Bove away from Stadio Olimpico in the summer transfer window.
