Manchester United are keen on acquiring the services of both Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton.
According to a report by TEAMtalk, Manchester United are planning for their first big summer under new minority owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe. Since his arrival, a lot has changed within the club, and that is expected to be put to use to sign the best young talents out there. Amadou Onana and Jarrad Branthwaite are two players that the Red Devils could make a move for.
Onana has gone from strength to strength since joining Everton in the summer of 2022. His impressive performances have helped him establish himself in the Belgian national team, and it has also resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
Meanwhile, Branthwaite has been in sensational form over the past 18 months. He had a superb loan spell at PSV Eindhoven last season, and it has helped him get into the Everton first team. The 21-year-old centre-back has cemented himself in the heart of the defence since the start of the season.
Manchester United’s interest in Onana and Branthwaite
Branthwaite’s consistent performances at the back and huge potential are attracting a lot of interest. Manchester United are one of the clubs keen on having the young English defender in their ranks. They want to reinforce their defence ahead of next season having, suffered this time out because of injuries.
Manchester United also want to add Onana to their ranks. While Kobbie Mainoo has surely shown a lot of promise, they want to have another young defensive midfielder in the mix, with Casemiro on the decline and Sofyan Amrabat unlikely to continue at the club beyond the summer.
Both Onana and Branthwaite’s contract with the Merseyside club runs until the summer of 2027. With over three years left on their deal, Everton are in the driving seat. They will only sell both of them for a combined fee of £160 million. The Toffees value each of them at £80 million.
Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s takeover was put on hold by the English FA. But now that the FA has approved Ratcliffe’s purchase of a minority stake in United, INEOS will have full control over their sporting decisions. They have already made major changes in the club’s hierarchy.
Ratcliffe is trying to make United the best club for young players to grow. They are going to focus on signing young players with huge potential. And, that is why they are after the signatures of Onana and Branthwaite.
