Liverpool are interested in acquiring the services of the 22-year-old Bayer Leverkusen centre-back Piero Hincapie.

According to a report by Fichajes, Liverpool are interested in having Piero Hincapie in their ranks. The 22-year-old centre-back has been doing wonders in the Bundesliga and the Reds are ready to go all out to land him at Anfield in the summer.

Hincapie’s impressive rise at Leverkusen

Hincapie has gone from strength to strength since joining Leverkusen in the summer of 2021. He is already a mainstay at the German club and his impressive performances have attracted a lot of attention from across Europe.

The Ecuadorian international has been a rock in their defence in the ongoing season. He has played a big part in their dominance in the German top flight. Leverkusen are currently top of the table and they could potentially end Bayern Munich’s title streak.

While Hincapie will still have three years left on his deal in the summer, the German club will still find it difficult to keep him at the club. Multiple top clubs from across Europe will knock on the doors for his signatures and Liverpool will most likely be one of them.

Liverpool’s desire for defensive reinforcement

The Reds want to further bolster their defence ahead of next season. While they do have Virgil van Dijk and Ibrahima Konaté in their ranks, the Merseyside club want to add another left-sided centre-back to their ranks. They feel Hincapie will not only add depth but he is someone who can also help them in the long run.

While he prefers playing in the heart of the defence, the 22-year-old can even feature as a left-back if needed. He can surely be a great signing for the Reds and they have already started making moves to ensure they can sign him in the summer.

The English club are in advanced talks to sign the Ecuadorian defender. They are willing to spend as much as €55 million on the Leverkusen defender, which will make him one of the costliest signings in the history of the club. The Reds believe Hincapie could be one of the stars of their team heading into the new era. But, it surely won’t be easy to prise him away from the German club given his importance in their team.
