Chelsea are set to step up their efforts to find an agreement with Victor Osimhen as they anticipate competition from PSG.

According to Rudy Galetti, Chelsea are looking to get ahead in the race for Victor Osimhen and intent to find an agreement with the striker quickly. The Blues are willing to trigger the Nigerian’s release clause as they anticipate rivals to provide intense competition for the Napoli star.

Chelsea steps up Victor Osimhen’s chase

Chelsea are eager for a new striker, and for a few months now it has become clear that Victor Osimhen is their priority target. There are challenges for the Blues before signing the 25-year-old attacker, although they are trying to get ahead in the race as they anticipate rival interests.

As per Rudy Galetti, Chelsea are willing to trigger Osimhen’s €130 million release clause and begin negotiations with the striker. Mauricio Pochettino’s side have somewhat struggled for relevance without a recognised No.9 and have made the Napoli striker their main target.

The lack of Champions League football could prove a stumbling block for Chelsea in the race, but there are signs they might have done plenty of groundwork for the 25-year-old attacker. However, with the striker’s market now developing rapidly, Chelsea feels threatened by the likes of PSG, who have entered the Osimhen race.

Hence, they feel the need to get an agreement in place quickly and probably know that Osimhen remains open to joining the Premier League. However, things may go differently than planned for the Blues as there are plenty of hurdles ahead, especially with the interest of rivals who are firmly settled in the Champions League.

Chelsea fears PSG in Osimhen’s chase

Chelsea are certainly aware of massive interest in the 25-year-old attacker ahead of the summer window. The straight forward release clause makes the race all the more open, with Arsenal being one of those keen on the Nigerian. However, the Blues are more worried about PSG in the chase for Osimhen as there has been a new development in Paris.

Kylian Mbappe confirmed his impending departure from PSG in the summer, with the French forward likely to make a big switch. Real Madrid are the current favourites, as the Parisians are now seriously considering Osimhen as Mbappe’s replacement. Should that be the case, the Ligue 1 giants will have to trigger his release clause, and they are very capable of bettering any financial offer Chelsea make for the Napoli man.
