Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are pushing hard for the services of the 21-year-old Athletic Bilbao attacking sensation Nico Williams.

According to El Chiringuito TV, Arsenal are keen on reinforcing their squad in the summer. While they will obviously push for a new striker, the Gunners will also look for a new winger. They want more competition on the flanks and have their eyes on Nico Williams.

Nico Williams: Spain’s young sensation

The younger brother of Inaki Williams has gone from strength to strength since joining the youth ranks of Athletic Bilbao back in 2013. He came up the ranks at some pace and was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2021.

He has since featured in over 100 matches and has contributed towards 34 goals. The 21-year-old has established himself as one of the best young wingers in Spain and his impressive performances have attracted the attention of quite a few top clubs.

Williams has also managed to break into the Spanish national team and as far as the ongoing season is concerned, the right-winger has contributed towards 15 goals in his 24 outings. His impressive performances have assured the scouts of Arsenal that he could help their cause.

Arsenal’s interest in Williams’ signatures

The Gunners have been interested in the 21-year-old for a while now and they have scouted him of late. The reports are positive and they are quite keen on having Williams in their ranks.

While Arsenal do have a lot of quality in their ranks, they need more firepower and depth to dominate England and Europe. Williams is a signing that could bolster their attack in the long run and his arrival will also increase the competition for a place in the wide areas of the pitch under Arteta.

Arteta feels competition for places will keep everyone on their toes and help them win big. They are huge fans of the 21-year-old and have started making moves to sign him. They are pressing hard for his signatures.

The Spanish international still has over three years left on his deal with Atheltic Club but there is still a feeling around the club that he will leave in the summer. The player will look to take the next step while the club could cash in on him and reinvest the amount to bolster their squad.
