Barcelona have been linked with a move for 22-year-old Everton midfielder Amadou Onana, a target for Chelsea and Manchester United.

A report from The Sun has claimed that Barcelona, Chelsea, and Manchester United are keen on Amadou Onana, who is likely to cost around £51 million. However, Barcelona will not pay the reported asking price.

Barcelona Keen on Amadou Onana

It will be interesting to see if Barcelona can convince Everton to accept a more reasonable fee for the Belgian international. The 22-year-old is highly rated across Europe, and he has a big future ahead of him. He could develop into a top-class defensive midfielder with the right guidance.

Barcelona need a quality long-term replacement for Sergio Busquets and the Belgian would be the perfect addition for them. He has shown his quality in the Premier League, and he is certainly good enough to play for the biggest clubs in the world.

Everton paid £34 million for the player when they signed him, and they will want to make a substantial profit on the player. The reported £51 million asking price seems justified for a player with his potential in today’s market. It remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Premier League Clubs Also Interested

Meanwhile, Chelsea have already invested in quality defensive midfielders like Moises Caicedo and Romeo Lavia. It would be quite surprising if they decided to make a move for Onana in the coming months.

As for Manchester United, the Red Devils could certainly use a quality defensive midfielder. Casemiro has not been at his best this season, and Sofyan Amrabat has been largely underwhelming since joining the club on loan.

Signing a quality defensive midfielder who will protect the central defence and allow the creative players to operate with more freedom should be a top priority for the Red Devils during the summer transfer window. Chelsea and Manchester United certainly have the financial muscle to pay the reported asking price as well.

Onana will want to take the next step in his development and join a big club capable of winning major trophies. The opportunity to play for Barcelona, Chelsea or Manchester United will be hard to turn down for the player.
