Enzo Fernandez is keen on joining Spanish giants Barcelona as looks to part ways with Chelsea in the near future.

According to a report by Sport, Enzo Fernandez has offered himself to Barcelona. The 23-year-old World Cup winner is reportedly unhappy at Chelsea and is looking for a way out. He wants to play for the Catalan giants and has asked his representatives to make things happen.

Enzo Fernandez and his Topsy-Turvy Chelsea Ride

Enzo Fernandez became the talk of the town following an incredible FIFA World Cup where he helped his nation lift the silverware. His performances at the global level raised his value many folds. He was on the radar of some of the biggest clubs in the world.

Chelsea had no intentions of losing out on him. As a result, they broke the bank and paid a reported fee of €121 million for his services in the winter of 2023. Since joining the English club, Fernandez has been a mainstay in their team, and he is a guaranteed starter.

But, he is still unhappy, which could be because of all that is going on at the club. And, the fact that they haven’t been able to get the desired results on the pitch. It has been a struggle for the Blues and as per the report, the Argentine midfielder has already started considering his future.

He penned down a long-term deal when he decided to make a move to London. His original contract with the Blues runs until the summer of 2031, but they have already exercised the option to extend it by another 12 months.

With more than eight years left on his deal and given the kind of importance he has in the Chelsea squad, a departure in the near future looks very unlikely. The Blues will not sanction a departure unless they get back what they had invested and there are only a few clubs capable of forking out that kind of fee.

Barcelona Calling?

While it does look very unlikely, there is nothing called impossible in the world of football. Enzo Fernandez dreams of playing for Barcelona, and he would love to join the Spanish giants. He has asked his representatives to get in touch with the Spanish club and to look for a way out.

Fernandez might have offered himself to Barcelona, but their financial situation is not really the best. They have limited resources, which has been the story for a while now. That won’t change anytime soon. As a result, the only way out seems to be a player-plus-cash deal, but there are no talks regarding it at this stage.
