32-year-old Spanish international Thiago Alcantara is all set to part ways with Liverpool after the end of the 2023/24 season.

According to a report by Football Insider, Thiago Alcantara could be on his way out at the end of the ongoing season. The 32-year-old has been a key figure at Liverpool since making the move back in 2020 but they are still unlikely to offer him a new deal.

The Spanish international ended his seven-year-long stay at Bayern Munich to join the Reds. Jurgen Klopp is a huge admirer of the 32-year-old and was keen on having him in his ranks. Since joining the English club, he has been a mainstay.

Thiago has featured in a total of 98 matches for the Merseyside club. He has even contributed towards nine goals. Klopp has always found a way to use him when fit. But, the problem is that he has struggled with injuries in the recent past.

He missed quite a few games last season and the story has been even worse this time around. He recently made his return from injury after 10 long months but it seems he has picked up another blow. Things haven’t gone according to plan for the Spanish international in the recent past.

His contract with the Reds runs until the end of the season when he will turn 33. Given the number of injuries he has suffered and the fact that he earns a reported £200,000-a-week, the Merseyside club are unlikely to give him a new deal.

The only way they offer him an extension is if he manages to return to full fitness and help them win games as they push for the league time. But, with Jurgen Klopp also leaving in the summer, the chances of a new deal look very slim.

Liverpool completed an overhaul in the centre of the park last summer but they do need a few more additions, Thiago’s departure will make room for a new player and it will also reduce their wage bill.
