Manchester United will reportedly look to sign French midfield prospect Khephren Thuram from OGC Nice in the summer transfer window.

According to a report by Italian outlet Tutto Mercato Web, Khephren Thuram is the subject of interest from Manchester United. The Red Devils are in the market for a midfielder heading into the summer transfer window. And they have set their sights on the Frenchman, with OGC Nice demanding at least €40 million to sell him.

The Rise of Khephren Thuram

Khephren Thuram has been one of the best young midfielders in Ligue 1 since joining OGC Nice. The son of Lilian Thuram and the younger brother of Marcus Thuram, the 22-year-old graduated from the AS Monaco youth division. But he had to wait until completing the move to Nice to rise in prominence.

The French midfield prospect has not looked back in the last half a decade, going from strength to strength. He has turned out over 150 times thus far for OGC Nice, chipping in with eight goals and 11 assists. Thuram has also broken into his national team, making his debut for France last year.

Meanwhile, the youngster’s progress has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs. Premier League bigwigs, in particular, are keen on signing the Frenchman. And Manchester United will be one of his prospective suitors in the summer transfer window. As for his asking price, OGC Nice will demand at least €40 million to sell Khephren Thuram.

Manchester United’s interest in Thuram is understandable. While Kobbie Mainoo has been a breath of fresh air, he is still in his teens and cannot play too much without burning out. So, with Scott McTominay not being good enough to be a regular starter and Christian Eriksen facing an uncertain future at Old Trafford, it behoves Manchester United to invest in a midfielder.

Manchester Calling?

Khephren Thuram has thus emerged as a viable target for Manchester United. And the Red Devils have the financial might to shell out €40 million to prise the French midfield prospect away from OGC Nice.

But several Serie A giants are also interested in securing Thuram’s services this summer. In addition, one cannot rule out other Premier League bigwigs from joining Manchester United in the chase.
