Manchester City are keen on Miguel Gutierrez ahead of the summer window, although Real Madrid’s clause threatens their move.

According to Defensa Central, Manchester City are keen to sign Miguel Gutierrez in the summer and could battle their rivals for the Spanish left-back. Real Madrid pose a danger to all suitors, including Pep Guardiola’s side, as they have a favourable €8 million clause in his contract at Girona.

Manchester City are interested in Miguel Gutierrez

Pep Guardiola wants to sign some of the best profiles for different positions in his side. When the summer window opens, the Catalan boss will want to raid for a right winger, central midfielder and a left-back. For the latter, Manchester City do not have any natural players there, barring the unwanted Sergio Gomez.

Guardiola has used Nathan Ake and Josko Gvardiol there to good use, although in the summer, he might think of a more natural option. Manchester City had links to Miguel Gutierrez, with the Girona man performing admirably this season and helping his team to an improbable title challenge with Real Madrid.

Manchester City and Girona fall under the same football group, which one would assume would make negotiations smoother for Miguel Gutierrez. There is a €30 million clause in the left-back’s contract at Girona that allows clubs other than Real Madrid to sign the player for that amount.

Manchester City should stay ahead in the race, which also involves Chelsea and Tottenham as things stand. While Guardiola would love to have a player of Gutierrez’s quality next season, his club will have to dig deep to beat the competition, especially from Real Madrid, who are in an advantageous position with the €30 million-rated left-back.

Real Madrid have advantage ahead of other suitors in Gutierrez race

Real Madrid have an €8 million clause in Gutierrez’s contract, which allows them to re-sign the player. They also hold 50% of the player’s transfer rights, meaning Girona must pay half of the fee received for the €30 million-rated left-back.

There are chances that Gutierrez might see his dream of featuring regularly for Real Madrid, which could influence his next move. The left-back is expected to depart Girona next summer, as Manchester City and others face the formidable threat posed by Real Madrid’s existence in the race.

Please Madrid. Take him back. He’s very talented. Don’t buy Davies cause expensive. Please be wise this time. Remember Hakimi, Odegaard, Kubo etc. All of them are very talented and yet you let them go.
