Real Sociedad were keen on signing the 22-year-old Tottenham Hotspur winger Bryan Gil on loan in the recently concluded window.
According to Fabrizio Romano, Real Sociedad were looking to reinforce their attack during the winter window. The Spanish club had their eyes on Bryan Gil and were looking to secure his services on loan. But, unfortunately, they couldn’t land him at the club.
Bryan Gil and his Frustrating Tottenham Journey
Gil came up the ranks at Sevilla before joining Tottenham Hotspur in the summer of 2021. He did not really have the best of starts to his life in England. The 22-year-old failed to get going and has had multiple loan spells away from the club.
Since the start of the 2023/24 season, the Spanish international has featured in 11 matches. He has racked up only 221 minutes of first-team football and has failed to contribute towards a goal.
While he was out injured for the initial fixtures, the 22-year-old has found himself on the bench more often than not. He still has over two years left on his deal at the North London club. But his current situation resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
Bryan Gil in Demand
Multiple clubs were ready to sign the Spanish international. But, the Spaniard was not really keen on another loan move. As per reports, Gil loves working under Ange Postecoglou. Despite his lack of minutes, he was keen on staying as he wanted to work his way into the starting XI.
Real Sociedad were one of the clubs that were interested in the 22-year-old’s services. They were in talks with Tottenham regarding a loan move for the former Sevilla forward. Despite secret talks with the English club and the fact that he was a top target for them, Real Sociedad failed to sign him because they were not ready to meet the demands of Spurs.
Real Sociedad were not the only clubs interested. Even Feyenoord and Brighton were keen on having the Spanish international in their ranks. They were looking to bolster their attack in the short term and made a move for him in the final week of the window. However, the player turned down the opportunity as he is keen on staying at the North London club.
