Manchester United to compete with Manchester City for Michael Olise

Manchester United will battle it out with Manchester City for Crystal Palace sensation Michael Olise in the summer.

The Sun reckons many clubs will fight it out for Michael Olise in the summer as they prime a battle between Manchester United and Manchester City. Pep Guardiola remains a fan of the 22-year-old French attacker, although the Red Devils will firmly settle themselves in the hunt for the winger.

Manchester Clubs battle for Michael Olise?

Michael Olise was expected to move out of Crystal Palace last summer, where he reportedly had a modest release clause. Chelsea made a bold attempt to trigger that exit clause, which was around £35 million, but the winger chose to stay at Selhurst Park and sign a new deal.

However, with Palace generally regressing as a club, the 22-year-old French attacker might see the wisdom in accepting a new challenge elsewhere. Manchester City is one of the clubs keen on the winger, with Pep Guardiola still searching for a successor to Riyad Mahrez, who left last summer for Saudi Arabia.

There are suggestions that Palace might ask for a considerable fee in exchange, something Manchester City are not expected to have a problem paying. The club are in a healthy financial state, although they will face plenty of competition for Olise, notably from Manchester United.

Olise reportedly would prefer Manchester United over other rivals like Chelsea. The Red Devils lack a player of Olise’s mould who could visibly make a massive difference in terms of chance creation and finishing. They might have moved for a player of that sort last summer, although Erik ten Hag had other priorities.

The Red Devils will likely enter the chase for Olise in the summer and could be set for a big battle with local rival Manchester City.

Michael Olise to quit Crystal Palace?

Olise has had an injury-hampered season so far, but his statistics still show the 22-year-old French attacker has the knack of scoring and creating. He will undoubtedly be a significant asset for any team snapping him in the summer, and the winger might look for a new opportunity.

Chelsea are expected to enter the race, while Tottenham are also keen. New reports were stating he still has a release clause close to £40 million despite signing the new contract, although that could be well above that mark and much close to £60 million as per other sources.

In any case, the winger will come in high demand from top Premier League clubs when the summer window opens. Manchester City and Manchester United are only a few of the clubs in the mix, with Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs all expected to make their presence felt.
