Manchester United and Liverpool are ready to battle it out for the services of 22-year-old Real Sociedad mainstay Takefusa Kubo.
According to a report by Football Insider, Manchester United and Liverpool are both keen on having Takefusa Kubo in their ranks. The 22-year-old has been in sensational form of late and his performances have resulted in a lot of interest from across Europe.
Kubo might have failed to break into the Real Madrid first team but he has managed to bounce back post that. He parted ways with the Madrid-based club to join Real Sociedad in the summer of 2022. Since making the move, he has featured in a total of 69 matches and has contributed towards 28 goals.
The 22-year-old is having a great season with the Spanish club. He already has 10 goal contributions to his name and will look to add a few more in the final phase of the season. His performances haven’t gone unnoticed. Manchester United and Liverpool are two Premier League giants that would love to have him in their ranks.
As per the report, Kubo has a release clause worth £51 million, a fee that could end his stint at the Spanish club in the near future. There is no possibility of him leaving now, the player is keen on continuing with Sociedad for the remainder of the season as they have Champions League knockout football to look forward to.
United and Liverpool are keen on bolstering their squad by signing Kubo and they will look to trigger his clause in the summer. But, the Red Devils will first have to sanction player sales to take care of their finances.
Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood’s future will be decided in the summer and their departure could fund the transfer of the Japanese international to the Manchester-based club.
As far as Liverpool are concerned, they are planning for life without Mohammed Salah. The Egypt international is heavily linked with a move to the Middle East and that could become a reality in the near future. And, that is why they are assessing Kubo as a long-term replacement for Salah.
