Galatasaray are working on a deal to sign Cedric Soares before the closure of the Turkish transfer window on February 9.

According to Rudy Galetti, Galatasaray are working hard to finalise a move for Cedric Soares from Arsenal. The Istanbul giants are keen to secure a new right back after the departure of Sacha Boey and are willing to offer the 32-year-old versatile defender a two-and-a-half-year deal.

Cedric Soares to join Galatasaray?

Arsenal have chosen to stay inactive in this window; although Mikel Arteta’s comments indicated they were keen on some players, the market conditions now allow them too much room. Either way, the Gunners boss would now want to keep most of his current first-team stars at the club, but probably not Cedric Soares.

Arsenal have been keen to sell Cedric since the beginning of this month. There have been plenty of rumours linking the 32-year-old versatile defender with a move, as many teams might have enquired, considering he has entered the final six months of his deal. Besiktas held talks with the Gunners and, at one stage, looked close to securing his signature.

Reports suggested Cedric had agreed to personal terms with Besiktas, but Arsenal’s insistence on a fee might have put them off. Galatasaray are keen on the 32-year-old versatile defender and is reportedly working hard to finalise a move for the right-back.

The Turkish window only shuts on February 9, which gives Arsenal and Galatasaray enough time to thrash out a deal. The Gunners will still expect a decent fee, which could benefit them. The Istanbul giants are reportedly willing to offer Cedric a two-and-a-half-year deal, which the defender might readily accept.

Galatasary eyeing Cedric to replace Sacha Boey?

Sacha Boey made his high-profile move to Bayern Munich some days ago, which has led Galatasaray to step up their search for a replacement. They are keen on Cedric to come in the Frenchman’s place, and this transfer might work in Galatasaray’s favour for a good period.

Cedric’s low cost might appeal to the Turkish giants, who are flush with cash following Boey’s sale. They still have plenty of time to find an agreement with Arsenal, although they are aware of Besiktas’ interest, which could accelerate their pursuit.
