Arsenal could take the lead over Manchester United in the chase for Kaoru Mitoma, who could get his big move in the summer.

According to Fichajes, Arsenal are in the lead to sign Kaoru Mitoma next summer and are ahead of the likes of Manchester United in the race. The 26-year-old Premier League attacker could get his big move next season, with more clubs likely to come into the mix.

Arsenal leading the Kaoru Mitoma race?

Mikel Arteta has been looking closely at his squad and has already started planning for next season. There are a few areas the manager would like to strengthen and revamp, with the wide attacking areas one of those critical positions on his mind.

Pedro Neto remains a firm target for Arteta, particularly for his versatility on both wings. Yet, there’s a feeling Arsenal may have some reservations about the Wolves star following his troublesome injury record in recent years.

There’s hardly any clarity on who Arteta considers his priority target, but Kaoru Mitoma also features on the Spaniard’s list. The 26-year-old Premier League attacker has taken the Premier League by storm following his breakthrough under Robert De Zerbi at Brighton.

As per the report, the Gunners are currently leading the chase for the Japanese international. Brighton have proved in the past to be a tough negotiator and will demand significantly for the 2-year-old Premier League attacker, who has a long-term contract at the club.

Manchester United’s interest in Mitoma

Manchester United are also in the market for a top-draw attacker who could bring about a creative spark in the team. Mitoma could certainly provide that, with Erik ten Hag eager to replace Jadon Sancho in the side. The Red Devils have held an interest in Mitoma for many months now and are considered contenders for the 26-year-old Premier League attacker.

Manchester City are also in the race, but they may appear to have sufficient reinforcements on the left wing, with Jack Grealish and Jeremy Doku. Unless the former leaves, there’s barely any room for a new arrival. Pep Guardiola is likely to find a new midfielder and a right winger over other areas.

Hence, Manchester United have a better chance in the race for Mitoma. However, as per the report, it’s Arsenal who are leading the hunt as things stand.
