West Ham United are keen on signing the Newcastle United striker Callum Wilson.

According to a report from HITC, the Hammers are keen on signing the 31-year-old striker who has been offered to Chelsea and Manchester United.

Wilson will be available for a fee of £18 million this month and it remains to be seen whether West Ham can get the deal done. The Hammers are in desperate need of a quality striker who can lead the line for them and score goals consistently.

Michail Antonio has been a shadow of his former self this season and Danny Ings is quite unreliable in terms of his availability. The Hammers must invest in a quality striker. While Wilson is a proven performer in the Premier League, his fitness record is quite unreliable and it will be interesting to see how the signing works out.

Meanwhile, the striker has been offered to Chelsea and Manchester United as well. Both clubs need to bring in a quality goalscorer and it remains to be seen whether they take up the opportunity to sign the player. A move to West Ham would be an interesting opportunity for the Newcastle striker, but Chelsea and Manchester United certainly have greater pull. If they are keen on securing signature, the player is likely to be tempted to join them instead of West Ham.

The Hammers have put together an impressive squad and they are having a reasonably good season. Signing the right players in January will help them finish the season strongly and push for European qualification. They are also competing in the UEFA Europa League and West Ham will hope to go all the way in the competition.

They are now closing in on the capture of Kalvin Phillips from Manchester City on a loan deal and the England international will improve them immensely in the middle of the park. If they can bring in a quality striker before the window closes, it would wrap up a successful window for them.

Newcastle need to raise funds in order to comply with the Financial Fair Play regulations, and it is no surprise that they are looking to sacrifice Wilson this month. He is likely to be the second outgoing for Newcastle in January after Miguel Almiron, who is expected to move to Saudi Arabia.
