Manchester City ready to pay €70 million for Alphonso Davies

Premier League champions Manchester City are reportedly willing to pay €70 million to sign Alphonso Davies, a target for Real Madrid.

According to a report by Spanish outlet Fichajes, Alphonso Davies is the subject of interest from Manchester City. The Premier League champions are ready to fork out €70 million to sign the Bayern Munich full-back. Meanwhile, the 23-year-old is also a target for La Liga heavyweights Real Madrid.

The Rise and Rise of Alphonso Davies

Alphonso Davies has come leaps and bounds since joining Bayern Munich from Vancouver Whitecaps in January 2019. A promising winger when he arrived in Germany, the Canadian international has converted into a burgeoning full-back at the Allianz Arena.

The 23-year-old has turned out 178 times thus far for Manchester City, chipping in with eight goals and 28 assists. But Davies has entered the final 18 months of his contract with Bayern Munich. Such a situation has not gone unnoticed, capturing the attention of several high-profile clubs in Europe.

A Man in Demand

Recent reports have linked Alphonso Davies with several Premier League bigwigs, including Chelsea. The explosive full-back is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain, while Real Madrid might be in the pole position to sign him. Meanwhile, he is the subject of interest from Manchester City.

Manchester City’s interest in Davies is hardly surprising, considering Pep Guardiola wants a new left-back. While the former Barcelona manager has Sergio Gomez in his squad, the Spaniard has barely featured for the Premier League champions. So, the Bayern Munich full-back is a viable target for Manchester City, who might soon offer €70 million to secure his services.

The development should kick Real Madrid into action, with Los Blancos also keen on signing Alphonso Davies. Recent reports have claimed that Real Madrid might offer a part-exchange deal to secure his services. But Manchester City potentially offering €70 million can possibly change Real Madrid’s tune, considering that is a sizeable bid.

Talks between Davies and Bayern Munich over a new contract have not progressed as well as the Bundesliga champions would have liked. So, with Manchester City and Real Madrid looking to sign him in the summer, a departure might be on the cards.
