Arsenal are among five teams tussling for Ezequiel Fernandez from Boca Juniors, with Mikel Arteta considering a move.

Fichajes points at Arsenal are being one of the contenders to sign Ezequiel Fernandez from Boca Juniors. The 21-year-old Argentine midfield sensation has become a significant influence on the South American side, with at least five clubs, including the Gunners, chasing his signature this month.

Arsenal in a transfer tussle for Ezequiel Fernandez

The January market has been a surprising affair so far, with no significant club, barring Tottenham, making any notable signings. There are expectations that top sides will spring into action in the latter stages. But none are likely to make smashing moves in the market.

Arsenal, for instance, have been searching for players in multiple essential areas, with central midfield one of those. The Gunners have found it challenging going at times owing to the depleted lineup in midfield with injuries to Thomas Partey, Mohamed Elney and even Fabio Vieira.

Mikel Arteta has considered bringing in a new midfielder who can provide all-action performances in the middle, and there are hardly a few options in the market. Moreover, Arsenal are also minding their spending this month, as they do not want to cross the line with FFP.

While there are suggestions about a summer move for Martin Zubimendi, Arteta might feel compelled to bring someone this month and has Ezequiel Fernandez as a target. The 21-year-old Argentine midfield sensation with Boca Juniors has been putting in some sensational performances, with Liverpool linked a few months back. Now, the Gunners might see the opportunity and approach before the month ends.

Five teams chasing Ezequiel Fernandez

Arsenal are not alone in the pursuit of Fernandez, as there are many other sides interested in the 21-year-old Argentine midfield sensation. Brighton & Hove Albion, who recently signed Valentin Barco from Boca Juniors, could use their relationship to make a move for the midfielder and compete with the Gunners.

From Spain, Girona and Sevilla are interested, while Benfica are also keen on the Boca midfielder before the closure of the January transfer window. Hence, the Gunners will face plenty of competition for the 21-year-old Argentine should they decide to make a move.

Fernandez does not carry a massive price tag on his head, as some reports suggest clubs can sign the midfielder for around €15 million. It may end up suiting many teams from Europe, especially the Gunners, who are minding their spending amid FFP concerns.
