West Ham United have suffered a major blow in their pursuit of the 22-year-old Chelsea forward Armando Broja.

According to a report by Football Insider, West Ham United are keen on reinforcing their attack in the ongoing transfer window. David Moyes wants a new number nine and the Hammers wanted to bring in Chelsea Armando Broja. But, they have suffered a blow in their pursuit as they can afford to price him away in the winter.

Broja has been at Chelsea since his childhood days. He has come up the ranks at their academy and has also had successful loan spells elsewhere. The 22-year-old was promoted to their first team in the summer of 2022. While his performances haven’t been top-notch, the Blues do believe that he could help them in the long run.

In the ongoing season, the Chelsea striker has only found the back of the net twice in his 17 appearances. Despite him not being at his best, West Ham United are keen on having him in their ranks. The Hammers are in desperate need of a new forward and they wanted to bring in the Albanian international who has been on their radar for a long while.

With injuries to Michail Antonio and Danny Ings’ future uncertain, David Moyes is eager to bring in a new striker who can lead his attack. As a result, they approached Chelsea for initial discussions. But, it seems they have suffered a blow as the Blues are in no mood to let the 22-year-old leave on the cheap.

Chelsea want at least £50 million for his services, a figure that is well beyond the Hammers’ winter budget. They went big in the summer and signed quite a few players. Having spent a fortune six months back, they can really do much in the ongoing window.

While they do need attacking reinforcement, they can afford to sign the Albanian international. As a result, the Blues will have to look elsewhere in order to add depth and the quality needed to finish the season on a high before they think of reigniting their interest in Broja.
