West Ham United Keen on Kalvin Phillips

The Hammers want to land the Englishman as soon as possible and as per Daily Mail, the two clubs are close to agreeing on a deal that will see the 28-year-old midfielder join the East London club for the rest of the season. Meanwhile, discussions regarding the deal having a purchase option are yet to take place.

Phillips’s career has gone downhill since moving to Manchester City. Nothing has worked out for the England international. He came up the ranks at Leeds United, made it to their first team and even helped them earn promotion to the English top flight. And, after proving himself in the Premier League, he joined City in the summer of 2022 to take his career to the next level.

But, things have not worked out well since the £45 million move. Pep Guardiola has not given him enough opportunities and he is now ready to part ways. While quite a few clubs have been linked with the 28-year-old, it seems West Ham United are leading the race at this stage.

The Hammers have been interested in Phillips for a while. They want to reinforce their midfield in the ongoing window and feel the former Leeds defensive midfielder could do wonders for them.

The player is open to the idea of joining the East London club as he seeks regular first-team action heading into the Euros in the summer. And, the two clubs have been in talks for a while now, with the discussions in advanced stages. The Hammers are on the verge of sealing an agreement with Manchester City for the services of the 28-year-old.

Major discussions have already taken place and while a few minor details are yet to be sorted, the negotiations have advanced at some pace. New rounds of talks have been scheduled. The Hammers want to get it done as soon as possible and they are pushing hard for it.
