Tottenham Hotspur will not entertain any offers for 28-year-old Danish international Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg this month.
According to a report by Evening Standard, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg will not leave Tottenham in the January transfer window. The 28-year-old is a target for Juventus and several other high-profile clubs. But Tottenham will not entertain any offers for him, even though he is a backup option for Angel Postecoglou.
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg in the Premier League: The Story So Far
Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg has been one of the most solid performers in the Premier League in the last seven and a half years. A former prospect for Bayern Munich, the Dane could not establish a foothold at the Allianz Arena. But he has come leaps and bounds in England, particularly rising in stature at Southampton FC.
The 28-year-old served Southampton as the club captain before joining Tottenham in August 2020. He was a regular for the North London club in his first three seasons at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. But Hojbjerg’s stock has fallen under Ange Postecoglou, with Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr usurping him.
However, Hojbjerg’s fortunes have improved due to Tottenham’s injury issues and the Africa Cup of Nations commitments of Bissouma and Sarr. Meanwhile, the Danish international, who has turned out 73 times thus far for his country, has no shortage of suitors, with Serie A giants Juventus and Napoli keen on signing him.
Will Hojbjerg Leave Tottenham?
With less than ten days remaining in the January transfer window, the chances of Hojbjerg’s departure have reduced. The 28-year-old has featured regularly for Tottenham in the last few weeks and will remain a pivotal figure in the last months of the 2023/24 season. While the London giants are in the market for a midfielder, they will only sign someone if they sell Hojbjerg.
But a January departure is not on the cards, with Postecoglou blocking an exit. So, Tottenham will not entertain any offers for the 73-cap Danish international, who will see out the 2023/24 season at the North London club before embarking on a new adventure this summer.
It will be interesting to see if Juventus or any other suitor can turn Tottenham’s head with an attractive offer. But a January move for Hojbjerg is not on the cards after the club’s decision not to put him on the transfer list.
