Leeds United line up Ben Davies swoop

Leeds United boss Daniel Farke has set his sights on a loan move for Tottenham defender Ben Davies, although a transfer looks complicated.

Paul Brown on Give Me Sport has claimed that Leeds United might be working on a deal to sign Ben Davies on loan from Tottenham. Daniel Farke likes the 30-year-old utility man and views him as a great addition to his side. But Ange Postecoglou might look to keep the Welshman at least until the summer.

Leeds United are intersted in Ben Davies

Ben Davies was a forgotten man at Tottenham at the start of the season. But Ange Postecoglou has had to rely on the 30-year-old utility man after an injury crisis hit his defence hard. The Welshman has ended up making 16 appearances for Spurs, and his performances were generally considered solid.

However, the arrival of Radu Dragusin from Genoa and the subsequent return to fitness of Postecoglou’s key defenders might push Davies down the pecking order. Hence, there were suggestions that Tottenham might consider selling the 30-year-old utility man, with Leeds United now interested.

Leeds are already plotting a permanent move for Joe Rodon, and could now look to bring Davies on a loan deal. Daniel Farke likes the Welshman and the versatility he brings, and the Championship side could put out an offer to sign him this month.

Paul Brown has confirmed the interest while highlighting Davies’s versatility and how it could benefit Leeds. However, he has also insisted that Tottenham are not bent on selling the 30-year-old utility man for sure, as they might decide depending on whether Postecoglou brings in further reinforcements.

Could Tottenham sell Ben Davies?

Tottenham have made some swift decisions in this window and could make more depending on their situation in different positions. While Davies has played as a left-sided centre-back this season, his preferred position remains at left-back, where Destiny Udogie has emerged as Tottenham’s first-choice starter.

Tottenham are also planning to let Ryan Sessegnon leave, and if Davies also joins Leeds, then Postecoglou could have an acute shortage at left-back. The Welshman could easily slot in that position when Udogie does not play, meaning he could only go if the manager decides to bring in another player.

Lecce’s Patrick Dorgu remains a target, but there are complications about completing a move this month. Hence, while Leeds like Davies, the chances of him leaving this month are slim, although Tottenham will likely seek suitors over in the summer for the Welshman
